What is a bending machine?

A bending machine is a piece of machinery that is used to bend a material, usually metal, wood, or plastic. Heat is applied to the material to make it pliable. The method of using pressure to bend the material is different depending on the type of material or machine. There are many different types of bending machines. Some examples include guitar side bending machines and exhaust pipe bending machines.

Roller bending machines

Rolling bending machines are made to bend sheets of metal. Roller bending machines do so with two or more rolling metal wheels, which slowly press the metal into shape. These wheels rotate counter to each other. The metal that is going to be bent is placed between them and is pulled back and forth. The rolling of the wheels slowly shapes the metal into a round shape. The shape can be adjusted through the placement of the rolling wheels.

Hydraulic pipe bending machines

A hydraulic pipe bending machine is a machine that is made to bend pipes. They can be automatic or manual. The automatic version of a pipe bending machine with hydraulics has an arm that holds the pipe and rotates to bend it. In the manual version of a pipe bending machine, the pipe is placed into the support plates and bent with hydraulic pressure. It is placed and adjusted by hand.

Acrylic bending machines

Acrylic bending machines are made to bend pieces of acrylic. Unlike the metal bending machines, this type of machine doesn't use rollers. Heat is applied at the point of the desired bend. Once the acrylic is flexible enough, it is placed on an angle. This angle can be adjusted to achieve the desired bend. The process is done by hand, rather than automatically as is the case with most of the other bending machines.
