About products and suppliers

The brake master cylinder is a hydraulic pump, also known as the master cylinder. It feeds brake fluid into the brake circuit to convert the pressure on the brake pedal to hydraulic pressure. The brake master cylinder is responsible for pressuring the fluid or maintaining pressure throughout the vehicle's hydraulic circuit. The car's brake pump has several openings through which a plunger inside the pump moves and compresses the hydraulic fluid.

Types of the brake cylinder

There are two types of master cylinders in the market: two-chamber and single-chamber.

1. Tandem brake pump: Two pistons are placed one after the other. Since the standard requiring the use of independent working circuits in the brake system came into force, brake pumps have two pressure chambers, one for each course, which are actuated utilizing two pistons.

2. Simple brake pump: In single pumps, the piston inside captures the movement of the pedal when braking. These brake pumps are fed with brake fluid and pass inside the master cylinder.

What should you consider when you buy brake cylinder?

Master cylinders are made of either aluminum or cast iron. Cast iron is more inexpensive, whereas aluminum is lightweight and resists rust. While purchasing a brake master cylinder, make sure the specs of the bleeding master cylinder meet the manufacturer's standards. Always check out the different warranties available. There can be a wide differential in the master cylinder cost offered. So always prefer the one which fulfills your requirement and suits your budget. You may require brake master cylinder replacement if you notice the following signs, your brake pedals feel soft and mushy, your check engine or brake warning light is on, or your brake fluid is dark or dirty looking. The master cylinder replacement cost will vary depending on your needs and requirements. Having your vehicle maintained can help prevent or postpone brake cylinder replacement.
