Electric wire comes in various kinds

Among the different types of electric wire, copper wiring is widely used. It is typically used for electrical outlet wiring and light switch wiring. Wiring an outlet with copper offers optimal safety because copper has low electrical resistivity and conductivity. This means that it is a good conductor and is less prone to incidental accidents. The chances of people getting electrocuted through a copper wire are low, but be that as it may, people still need to treat it carefully and with respect. Other electric wires include aluminum, nylon-coated, thermoplastic, and metal-clad wires.

An electric wire transfers electricity to another wire

Electric wire connectors are used to attach two wires together. When two wires are connected with electrical connectors, they can make electricity reach far distances. This is how electricity is delivered to households, buildings, or anywhere in the world. All electric wiring is held together by wire connectors. Like those thick and large power cables that are almost anywhere on the street, medium-sized wires that connect light bulbs to a power source, and copper wires in light switches, etc.

An old electric wire should be replaced for safety concerns

If the inner strands of an electrical wire are visible to the naked eye, then it means it's time to replace them, for they are a threat to people around them. The same goes if an electric wire is cut or snapped off in half. This is commonly seen during natural calamities wherein electrical posts are blown down by strong winds or rain. Any live wire that is damaged can electrocute a person that accidentally comes in contact with it. This is even more dangerous if the wire is located outdoors and is exposed to moisture. This is why safety standards dictate that all electric wiring must be inspected regularly to check for defects and damage. An electric technician should repair broken electric wires or replace them completely to avoid unexpected accidents.
