A hand pump is a machine that uses manual labor to change the pressure of fluid inside a container or transport fluid. A hand pump usually consists of a pump body, piston, valve body, valve, handle, sealing gasket, inlet and outlet, and other parts. Its working principle is to use manual pushing, pulling, or twisting to make the piston inside the pump move back and forth, thereby achieving the suction and discharge of liquid or gas through the opening and closing of the valve body and valves.

Types of Hand Pumps

Manual rotary pump: Generally composed of a pump head, a tube, and a transmission mechanism, the pump head is manually rotated to drive the piston inside the tube to achieve the suction and discharge of liquid or gas. Hand pump: generally composed of pump body, handle, and sealing structure, the liquid or gas is sucked in and discharged through the up and down movement of the handle.

Manual lifting pump: commonly seen in industries such as chemistry, food, and pharmaceuticals. During operation, the piston of the pump needs to be lifted upwards, and then the liquid is transported by its weight. Manual diaphragm pump: composed of the pump body, diaphragm, spring, and other parts, the diaphragm inside the pump is deformed by manually pressing the handle on the pump body, completing the suction and discharge of liquid.

The Application of Hand Pumps

Manual pumps are widely used in fields such as ships, firefighting, agriculture, and industry. Ship field: used for liquid drainage and pumping of oil from the interior bilge of ships like manual water pumps. Fire protection field: used for liquid transportation of firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishing equipment and water pumps. Agricultural field: it can be used for agricultural irrigation, pumping and other processes, like manual oil pumps. Industrial sector: Used for liquid transportation in industries such as chemical, petrochemical, food, pharmaceutical, etc. In addition, manual well pumps are also widely used at home, usually to draw drinking water and well water.

The Purpose of Manual Pumps

The main purpose of manual pumps varies depending on their type. Fluid delivery: A manual pump generates pressure on the fluid inside the pump body through manual operation, thereby achieving fluid delivery. In some situations, when automatic conveying equipment such as electric pumps are inconvenient to use, hand pumps can become an effective choice. Generating pressure: By manually operating the pump, the pressure inside the pump body can gradually increase. This method can be used in various situations that require pressure generation, such as manual hydraulic pumps for inflating car tires, conveying compressed air, and so on. Implementing fixed displacement: Manual pumps can achieve fixed displacement according to needs. For example, in drug processing, hand pumps can achieve precise drug delivery volume, thereby ensuring the quality of drugs.
