About products and suppliers

R134a is a refrigerant used in air-conditioning systems. It is also known as 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane, r134a Freon, and commonly referred to as r134a AC refrigerant in automotive systems. The r134a refrigerant is non-toxic, non-flammable, and ozone-friendly.

The cooling effect of R134a is equivalent to that of CFC-12 (R12), but it has a significantly lower global warming potential (GWP= 1,430). The R134a refrigerant is a colorless gas/liquid with a boiling point of -26.3° Celsius (-15.3° Fahrenheit). R134a can be used in many types of applications including air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers, and medical equipment.

Industrial Grade R134a

For industrial applications, the R134a refrigerant is typically found in tanks with a net weight of more than 30 lbs. R134a is commonly used for cooling systems that require low viscosity with high thermal conductivity.

Medicine Grade R134a

In medicine, R134a is often used as an alternative to chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). It is employed as a coolant for medical freezers. It is also used by pharmaceutical companies as a propellant in asthma inhalers and inhalable medications, and by manufacturers in producing plastic foam.

Food Grade R134a

The R134a has a low boiling point and can be easily vaporized or liquefied by compression. These properties make it ideal for use in AC systems of cars and trucks that need to maintain low temperatures during the transportation of perishable food.

Is R134a explosive?

No, R134a is not explosive. It is a very stable refrigerant that requires considerable energy and high oxygen concentration to ignite.

Is R134a the same as R134a Freon?

Yes, they are the same thing. Freon is a brand name of the R134a refrigerant.

Is R314a still used in cars?

Since 2021, all new cars sold in the U.S. have been required by law to use a different refrigerant in air conditioning systems than R-134a.
