About products and suppliers

An RC helicopter, or a “remote control helicopter,” is a small, unmanned aircraft flown long-distance by a hand-held transmitter. Like real-life helicopters, pilots can fly these aircrafts without a landing strip. This added freedom gives them an advantage over RC planes. Commonly used for flight training, competition, or enjoyment, a remote helicopter can come in various options, each requiring a different level of user experience. Further, units range from mass-produced models to custom, highly accurate reconstructions of military or government aircrafts, such as the RC military helicopter.

Read below to choose the best RC helicopter.

Battery (Electric)

Electric RC helicopters are among the most popular models. The easy-to-use design and cheap fuel source, rechargeable batteries, allow people of all ages to fly, even without mechanical knowledge. For this reason, this model lends itself well to a flying toy helicopter for children. While limited to shorter flight times when compared to gas-powered designs, this model helicopter is generally less sophisticated, which makes troubleshooting problems cheaper and more manageable.

Internal Combustion

Bigger and more powerful models require combustion engines and varying fuel sources. A gas RC helicopter is powered by a heavy, two-stroke engine, offering longer flight times and cheaper fuel sources. Nitro RC helicopter, or “glow-powered,” offers a better power-to-weight ratio and produces less vibration and noise. However, this comes at a higher fuel cost.

Due to the added power, internal combustion offers an excellent design for more advanced maneuvers and stunts, making it a good choice for a remote control helicopter for adults.

RC Helicopter with Camera

Like most drones, a remote control helicopter with a camera allows the users to record their flight experience, which can even be viewed in real-time. These units are commonly referred to as “helicams.” Some models also feature built-in WIFI to enjoy live videos and photos, allowing them to survey inaccessible patches of land. More sophisticated models allow cameras to pan, tilt, and roll.
