Again, batt insulation may leave spaces between the pre-cut pieces, unlike roll insulation, which is a continuous sheet with no spaces left in between. The other difference between the two insulations is that the pieces or blocks used in batt insulation are not as flexible as those used in roll insulation. This makes roll insulation easier to install compared to batt insulation. Lastly, batt insulation cannot be easily reshaped to fit in the desired area, unlike the case with roll insulation. This means that roll insulation is more versatile in terms of installation.

Advantages of Roll Insulation Over Batt Insulation

Roll insulation is easier to cut than batt insulation, saving you both time and energy. You may use an insulation knife or utility knife to cut the rolls to your desired size and shape. Other roll insulation materials can be easily cut using shears of a sharp pair of scissors. Another advantage of roll insulation is that it is easier to install. Considering that the roll is spread as one big sheet, it makes the work easier than in cases where you have to join pieces together. This makes roll insulation ideal for insulating large areas.

How to Install Roll Insulation

When installing roll insulators, always remember to start at the point away from the attic hatch and then fix the insulation between the joists. Ensure that the roll insulation is well tucked into the closely fitting spaces between rafters and ceiling joists. Do not compress the rolls much when installing the roll insulation since this may make it less effective.
