What is Stretch Fabric?

Stretch fabric is a type of material that is designed to stretch and flex with the movements of the wearer. Depending on the fabric composition, the amount of flexibility will vary. Stretch fabrics are either 2-way stretch or 4-way stretch. 2-way stretch fabrics stretch in one direction but can be in other directions depending on the knit. 4-way stretch fabrics stretch in both directions, crosswise and lengthwise.

Different Types of Stretch Fabric

Cotton stretch is a natural fiber that doesn't have as much elasticity as Polyester spandex or nylon. Lycra fabric also called elastane fabric is a type of spandex that offers extra stretch and support.
